Yesterday was not such a sweet day! I woke up early, fresh from the long weekend, ready to tackle the week. I hopped in my jeep and headed towards downtown to prep for my afternoon “Smoothie booster” talk at CSI, a really awesome toronto based coworking space. I’m about halfway there, stopped at a red light when something comes over me and nudges me to press down harder on the brake. The brake full on hits the floor – YUP, been here before, just never before on Bloor street in rush hour traffic…I have no brakes. Luckily I was stopped at a light and was able to creep across the intersection and use my Emergency brake to come to a spot . (If this ever happens to you, pls remember that your emergency brake will still work) Frustrated and annoyed, I called my hubby who immediately hopped back on the subway to come rescue me. We sat for hours waiting for a tow truck, I don’t know why it takes so long, but at least I had good company.
After a super long and frustrating day, I decided to make an easy dinner – Curry Chicken over Konjac rice. But as you’ve already noticed, this is not a “Low carb Curry chicken” Recipe blog post, it’s a grain free cereal recipe post. Well thats because, as I was reaching for the rice, my glass bottle of Spirulina came crashing down, smashed off of the stone counter and distributed itself all over our white cabinets and floors. It took me, some major elbow grease and a tiny toothbrush an hour to clean the blue algae from the cracks of our floors. I’ll never look at Spirulina the same way.
After that ordeal I was too tired to cook and really just wanted to skip eating and go straight to bed. However, my tummy had other plans, it was calling to be fed. Luckily just two days before I had made this super yummy, grain free, cereal. Its free of processed sugars, grain free, high in fat and totally feels like a cheat on my current less than 20 grams of carbs a day protocol.
1/3 cup topped with your favorite milk, I chose coconut, and you are in for a real treat.
